Ceiling Track Hoists provide advantages for both carers and users. Allowing challenging physical activities to be an everyday part of life.

As well as providing support to our students, a ceiling track hoist also benefits the teachers and support staff. A useful utility for the school, it makes the teachers’s job easier by supporting with the teaching of the pupil. Allowing movement and activities in areas of the classroom which would otherwise not be accessible.

Besides this, a ceiling track hoist can also support teachers and support staff with other types of therapies and treatments. For instance, they can be a perfect solution for patients who suffer from disabilities where muscles can stiffen and cause discomfort. Using a hoist allows a teacher better access to their legs and joints, and help them better exercise and can help to relieve any discomfort they may have.

Ceiling track hoists are vital to Newbridge School to help provide high quality care which is both safe and comfortable for people with disabilities.

At Newbridge Lower School, we use a lot of visual educational material and the projector in Sensory Room is used to display colourful, calming and educational videos.
Using visual media:
• Helps store information longer
• Develops communication skills
• Act as stimulators for emotions
• Drives motivation
• Aids comprehension of a subject
• Has a calming influence
• Allows student to visualise learning

The sensory room not only has visual activities but also has activities which help to focus the student and allows them to explore through the medium of touch.

The sensory wall also helps the following:

• Helps build stronger nerve connections in the brain.
It leads to well-developed fine motor skills for hand-eye coordination.
It improves memory when the activity is repeated.
It helps with language development as the child learns new words.
Gives the pupil a level of independence.

UV and sensory lights are ideal for helping our students to develop their visual processing, improve their tracking and develop their hand-eye co-ordination.

Our sensory room is designed to be entertaining, immersive and relaxing for our students. Many of the objects in the sensory room reflect UV lighting which the children love playing with.

Studies have shown that humans in general can have their mood influnced by changes in lighting, this is especially prominent with our pupils. Lights with mellow colours, like blue, can help a child relax and become more creative.

LIGHTING

UV and sensory lights are ideal for helping our students to develop their visual processing, improve their tracking and develop their hand-eye co-ordination.

Our sensory room is designed to be entertaining, immersive and relaxing for our students. Many of the objects in the sensory room reflect UV lighting which the children love playing with.

Studies have shown that humans, in general, can have their mood influnced by changes in lighting, this is especially prominent with our pupils. Lights with mellow colours, like blue, can help a child relax and become more creative and the vibrant colours enthral and excite the children.

It improves memory when the activity is repeated.
It helps with language development as the child learns new words.
Gives the pupil a level of independence.

At Newbridge Lower School, we are extremely fortunate to have a fully equipped softplay area which is both safe and enjoyable for our pupils.

Soft play helps with engagement and increased communication and allows children to relax as they are in a closed-off and safe space. Soft play is a safe, exciting environment to explore and help develop a wide range of skills, such as motor skills, social skills and creativity. It offers a way for pupils to interact with peers and develop important life skills. The soft play area encourages large motor development by stepping, climbing, crawling, jumping and rolling and the bright, colourful, fun space stimulates senses. It also aids self-regulation for pupils who need a boisterous rough and tumble.

The softplay area also has a ceiling track hoist support frame and many of our pupils participate in their physiotherapy programmes whilst enjoying the soft room. It is a firm favourite with our pupils and a room essential to the development of our students fine and gross motor skills.

Ceiling Track Hoists provide advantages for both carers and users. Allowing challenging physical activities to be a part of everyday life.

As well as providing support to our students, a ceiling track hoist also benefits the teachers and support staff. A useful utility for the school, it makes the teachers’s job easier by supporting with the teaching of the pupil, allowing movement and activities in areas of the classroom which would otherwise not be accessible.

Besides this, a ceiling track hoist can also support teachers and support staff with other types of therapies and treatments. For instance, they can be a perfect solution for patients who suffer from disabilities where muscles can stiffen and cause discomfort. Using a hoist allows a teacher better access to their legs and joints and helps them exercise and can also help to relieve any discomfort they may have.

Ceiling track hoists are vital to Newbridge School to help provide high quality care which is both safe and comfortable for people with disabilities.

Our teachers use Smartboards to ensure lessons are interactive and interesting, captivating our students' attention and allowing the teachers to be innovative with their approach to teaching.

Some of the main features are:

Multitouch experience: Two users can simultaneously write, perform mouse functions, erase, and manipulate and move objects on the interactive whiteboard surface.

Object awareness: The screen uses DViT (Digital Vision Touch) technology to identify when a user switches between a finger, pen and eraser. A user can also write with a pen, erase with a palm and move objects with a finger, without having to press buttons, access on-screen menus or replace tools in the Pen Tray, using simple, intuitive hand and finger gestures to toss, rotate or zoom in on objects and interact within SMART Notebook software.

SMART Notebook software: SMART Notebook sets the standard for creating, delivering and managing interactive lessons within a single application. It puts all of the instructional materials at our fingertips and allows us to save any notes or content that is written during the lesson to share with students later on. A powerful and easy-to-use application, SMART Notebook software enables us to readily deliver interactive lessons that keep our students engaged and interested

Multiuser Pen Tray: Pick up one of the pens or the eraser and the Pen Tray automatically detects which tool you've selected. Buttons on the Pen Tray select the colour and activate the On-Screen Keyboard, right-click and help functions.

Modular design: The Pen Tray includes two wings on the side that allow you to add accessories, such as SMART projector controls

Lockable pen option: When we hold down a pen colour button on the Pen Tray until the light flashes then the lockable pen option will lock the interactive whiteboard into pen mode, so you can use any device and it will act as a pen. Early years education students and students with additional learning needs can use objects, such as tennis balls, to write on the surface

SMART Ink: Smart Ink smoothes out the appearance of the digital ink, which improves the legibility of the handwriting as we write over applications, websites and videos. The ink becomes an object which can moved and manipulate

Save function: We can capture our pupilswork to SMART Notebook collaborative learning software as a screen shot that you can edit, or save your notes directly into several software applications, including Microsoft Windows versions of PowerPoint, Word and Excel, as well as AutoCAD and Adobe Acrobat

At Newbridge Lower School, one of our main aims is to bring happiness and comfort to our students. In doing so, we hope to build long lasting, happy memories.

Our staff are extremely professional and passionate about providing the highest level of care to our students. The activities we use with the pupils are designed to develop skills which can be used in situations that the pupils may encounter in their everyday lives.

Developing both mental and physical skills is essential for the progression of our students and the activities we complete with them will become skills which will stay with them long after they have left the school.

MATHS
AREAS

Mathematics is a key skill used by all of our pupils in their daily lives so is therefore at the forefront of our syllabus and is an essential part of the curriculum.

Mathematics is used to describe, analyse and understand our students environments. Whether it be the pleasure of solving a puzzle for the first time, discovering a solution to a problem or noticing hidden connections, mathematics helps develop our pupils awareness of how the world works.

At Newbridge Lower School, mathematics is taught in a creative way using 'hands on' techniques which provide a visual and inclusive way to learn numeracy and encourage a pragmatic approach to problem solving ares of mathematics which would otherwise be challenging to our pupils.

Having the necessary tools and teaching materials is essential and our classrooms have everything required to assist with making it as fun and inclusive as possible.
